Geoff J. Catherwood, P.Eng. - Director
Geoff is a registered Professional Engineer and has 14 years experience
in industrial automation and process control. Prior to joining the BDC
in 2001, he worked for Asea Brown Boveri and Bailey Canada - large
multi-national industrial process control suppliers. He brings with him
diverse operational experience from the process automation industry.
His experience includes field service, system commissioning,
engineering, management, marketing and sales. He currently administers
BDC Venture Capital's 'Advanced Technology' portfolio in Western
Canada. These include investments in companies that focus on
Semiconductors, Alternative Energy, Electronics, Advanced Materials and
Clean Technologies. He is active on the boards of a number of early
stage companies. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in
Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and an
Executive MBA from Simon Fraser University. He has also completed the
Canadian Securities Course.
Joe Timlin, Director
Joe is VP Investments at GrowthWorks Capital and focuses on information
technology and communications. Joe began his career as a venture
capitalist nine years ago at the Business Development Bank of Canada
before joining GrowthWorks in 2004. Before that, Joe worked in
technical sales and sales management for US Filter and prior to that he
was a Civil Engineer with a general contractor in Northern Ontario.Joe
is on the Boards of Teradici, ResponseTek, Bycast, and Layer 7.
Robin Porter - CEO
Robin Porter joined SUTUS in January 2010 as president and chief executive officer, and a member of the board of directors. Robin came to SUTUS to build on the vision of delivering a total IT and telephony solution to the small business and retail customer. Robin brings over twenty-five years of experience as an entrepreneur, business manager, and operations leader in a number of network computing and systems companies.
Prior to joining SUTUS, Robin ran Venture Operations, providing business and operational management to emerging technology companies with several successful exits. She has served as Vice President of Operations at SonicWall, COO of Kavari Networks, COO of Scout Electromedia and VP of Operations at Cobalt Networks. As VP of Operations at Cobalt Networks, she helped develop and deliver the first successful server appliance and grew Cobalt into a worldwide leader in the category, culminating in a successful IPO and acquisition by Sun Microsystems for $2.6B.
Robin has held a number of technical and management positions at Fujitsu, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Hewlett-Packard and successfully developed numerous products including networking gear, RISC workstations, and high performance graphics and video subsystems. Robin received a BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado.
Shawn Chute - EVP
Shawn brings more than 14 years of executive leadership experience in
the Internet and computer service industry to his position of Executive
Vice President of Sutus. Prior to undertaking this role he was
president of Conducive Corporation a New York based online advertising
company which acquired ADZILLA new media, a company he was CEO of and
co-founded in 2003. Formerly he was the Chairman and CEO of Voyus Ltd.,
a leading remote IT solutions company he co-founded in 1998. Shawn was
instrumental in growing Voyus to more than 120 employees and $22
million in revenues in a three-year period. Shawn’s high-tech career
began with Canada Internet Direct a pioneering ISP that became one of
Canada’s largest independents prior to being sold to Look
Communications. Shawn was named one of Vancouver’s “Top 40 Under 40”
Entrepreneurs of the Year by Business in Vancouver and has also earned
two nominations for the Ernst and Young “Entrepreneur of the Year”
award, a prestigious Canada-wide competition. Shawn is a Business
Administration graduate with a specialization in Marketing Management.
Tracy Seward - CFO
Tracy is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) with over 14 years of
financial and strategic planning expertise with both publicly listed
and private companies. Tracy was instrumental in successfully raising
in excess of $10 million in equity financing in addition to the
negotiation and management of more than $60 million in project and
operating financing. His strengths include the implementation and
integration of operating technology and financial reporting systems.
John Wigboldus - VP Sales and Channel
Development
John Wigboldus brings over 17 years of experience to his position as VP
Sales and Channel Development at Sutus. An entrepreneurial veteran of
the technology and telecommunications industry, John has experience
that spans operations, marketing, sales, and business development with
companies such as TELUS, AT&T International,
MetroNet/AT&T Canada, C1 Communications, Radian Communications,
Q-media Services, and Voyus/IP Applications. Most recently, as the VP
of Sales and Business Development for ADZILLA new media, he oversaw the
creation and implementation of the company’s “go to market” business
development strategy for securing partnerships with ISPs and related
technology companies. He has a B.A. from the University of British
Columbia and participated in the BCIT Sales and Marketing program.
Martin Leonard - VP of Engineering
More than 15 years in Software Engineering primarily in the telecommunications
industry, Martin has been a contributor and leader of development projects ranging
from telecom conformance testing software, to new telecom protocol layers, to DSL
multiplexer software on silicon. Lenny's experience spans companies from startups
to corporate giants including the likes of Solinet Gmbh (Germany), Trillium, Intel
and Peoplesoft.One it's first employees, Martin has been a key contributor to the
success of the company and the development of the product. Martin has a Masters in
Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Leeds University, England.
Mike Cassidy - Director of Business Development
Mike has over 15 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development in the service provider market. Prior to Sutus, Mike was the co-founder and Managing Partner of ISP-Market, LLC, a strategic consulting agency for the ISP industry. At ISP-Market, Mike worked with over 50 clients through first round funding, IPOs and acquisitions. Mike helped formulate client’s business development, sales and marketing strategies targeted at the ISPs, ITSP’s, ASP’s, WISP’s, Wholesalers and CLEC’s.
