Cabinets To Go!

Cabinets to Go! is a rapidly expanding kitchen and bath cabinet retailer serving the North American market. With thirty new locations planned for the end of 2010, and several hundred more expected in the next few years, the company needed an IT solution that could keep pace with their growth. They turned to AdrenaSpeed Solutions, of Danville, CA, a Sutus Certified Reseller, for a complete Point of Sale, IT, telephony, and video security structure that would serve each of their stores.
The Challenge

AdrenaSpeed Solutions was asked by Cabinets to Go! to quote a mixed/Cisco IT and networking solution, a Cisco telephony solution, a separate video security system, and ongoing IT and telephone support for each of their retail locations.

Tom Palmer of AdrenaSpeed Solutions explained: “In July of 2008, Cabinets To Go! approached us to find a solution to meet all the infrastructure needs of their rapidly growing business. They were looking for all the Point of Sale and IT infrastructure that a large retailer needs, including all the interfaces back to corporate, telephone, and security monitoring. And they wanted it in a cost-effective, reliable, and easy to manage solution. He continued, outlining the challenge facing the company: “The solution would also have to manage over 7 different carriers, including XO Communications and SimpleSignal.”

The Solution

The Sutus Business Central 200 was chosen by AdrenaSpeed for its ability to deliver everything that Cabinets to Go! demanded for a quick, cost-effective, and seamless IT upgrade that would keep pace with its rapidly expanding business.

With a single BC200 appliance, Cabinets to Go! could access a wide array of advanced data and networking functions such as: file server, email server, router, firewall, wireless access point, VPN remote access server, automated backups, and an enterprise-grade phone system – one that simultaneously supports both standard phone line and VoIP connections.

Because SUTUS works with all Polycom Soundpoint IP desk phones, the installation and management of the Cabinets to Go! phone system could be streamlined using the Sutus phone manager. The quick and easy install would result in more seamless IT transitions for the company’s expanding network of locations. The BC200’s extensive management features (made accessible via an easy-to-use GUI that lets companies make changes to IT and phone processes onsite or remotely) would result in a more dynamic, responsive IT solution for the fast-growing company. In addition, the business software and e-commerce solution could be managed in the cloud with Storis, while the video surveillance needs of each store could be connected through the Sutus VPN and remotely monitored by Alarmex.

The Results

“When we do open our 30th store, we will have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars over the Cisco solution, as well as ongoing savings in the remote management Sutus offers, “ said Ernie DeFrancesco, Vice President of Information Technology for Cabinets To Go! He added, “The solution is also an ideal platform for cloud based applications - we have our POS and e-commerce solutions with Storis and our video surveillance through Alarmex enabled by Sutus’ VPN feature.”

The implementation of the Sutus BC200 allowed Cabinets To Go! to keep their working capital independent from their IT capital costs—an advantage that could not be realized with a Cisco solution. In fact, with a projected roll-out of 30 retail locations a year over the next 6 years, management faced $2,100,000 in capital equipment and installation costs for the Cisco UC520 solution. The Sutus BC200 solution not only resulted in an immediate capital savings of $1,000,000 (52%), but delivered a more robust, fully-integrated solution with web, email, file and domain servers. These built-in features saved the company another $500,000 worth of capital, installation, and integration costs.

The Sutus BC200 reaped even more savings for the company by allowing them to manage their national IT infrastructure from one central location. Using the remote management capabilities of the BC200 the company has virtually eliminated the need for on-site IT staff and truck rolls for minor MAC (moves, adds and changes). By outsourcing all daily management services to a third party, the company saved $200,000 in IT staffing costs to date, with projected savings of $1,200,000 over the next six years.
